It is important to note that most standard types of adhesives will not work for this particular application (some upholstery adhesives may work, but it is still better to go with an adhesive that is specifically graded for use with taxidermy). These taxidermy grade adhesives feature exceptional adhesion strengths, consistent performance, controlled cure times, and will help you save a great deal of time.

Especially when it comes to animals such as ducks that feature a very light and thin skin and has a high propensity for cracking or ripping, you will need to look into special materials that form a patch for you to correct the crack or rip. These come in preset shapes and sizes and are also available as whole sheets from which you can cut the exact size and shape that you need in order to patch up your prize catch or fish. You can also find some materials that are similar to a plaster of Paris, that allow you to make your own patch. This method can also be paired with certain adhesives as well.

Many sportsmen have also come upon the need for taxidermy replacement eyes as well, since these can easily chip or break during moving or temporary storage. You can easily find plenty of false eyes to match the exact type of animal you are repairing.
